ROZALEME
Bobal Tempranillo 2004 Utiel Requena, Spain Rozaleme is the name of an old fountain in the town of Requena south-east of Madrid and just inland from Valencia. This delicious wine is a blend of 70% Bobal and 30% Tempranillo and underlines the great potential of Spain to produce great wines. Working with Antonia Sarrion of Bodega Mustiguillo, consultant Alberto Antonini selected some prime Bobal and Tempranillo vineyards in Utiel and, in a short space of time, has produced a high quality wine thanks to the outstanding fruit that he found there. The vineyards are to be found at an altitude of 700 to 900 metres. The vines are 22 to 40 years old, with a small parcel of 70 year old Bobal adding intensity to the blend. The wine is deeply coloured, with concentrated perfumes of ripe, berry fruit and brambles and a hint of chocolate on the nose that give way to tightly-knit, fine-grained tannins and a long finish.
